Mozilla CEO Stepping Down

Here is hoping the next Firefox CEO is a good choice. I cannot overstate how important it is that a web browser with 10%-ish marsketshare exists not owned by an Ad company and that cares about user needs and privacy first.

And the new CEO will manage them jumping into paid services, a key element to manage supremely carefully.

“Firefox may not be as widely used as Chrome, but it still plays an important role in developing the standards that govern the web. Many of us spend hours a day using Microsoft’s Windows, Google’s Android and Chrome OS, and Apple’s iOS and MacOS. Those are proprietary technology platforms.

But the web, at least so far, is an independent technology foundation, and Mozilla plays a significant role in steering it.”
